Jaundice means the skin develops a yellow tinge from a build-up of bilirubin, a poisonous chemical normally destroyed by the liver. It seems hormones in breast milk can make your baby's liver less efficient at dealing with bilirubin, leading to jaundice. Breast milk jaundice is normal, so continue breastfeeding unless your doctor tells you not to.
