There’s a saying that’s been my mantra in life. ‘When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.’ You see, when I was a year old, I was dealt a tough hand... Tests revealed I had spinal muscular atrophy. It’s a genetic condition that makes the muscles weaker and causes movement problems. My parents, Jackie, now 56, and Rolf, 60, were warned that there’s no cure and it gets worse over time.
