The knife community lost three valued contributors with the recent passing of knifemakers A.T. Barr and Jim Siska, as well as Jim Frost, founder of Frost Cutlery.
A voting member of The Knifemakers’ Guild for several years, Barr was known for the saying, “Don’t You Buy No Ugly Knife,” which he used on his website and on his ads promoting his folding and fixed-blade knives. As he noted on his site, “I legally offer the easy-open feature [hole in the blade] on my knives, having done the honorable thing paying Spyderco, Inc., a license fee years ago,” Spyderco, of course, being the originator of the hole in the blade (page 10).
