KIA IS all set to expand its portfolio with the Syros, that will join the Sonet in the sub-compact SUV segment. Teasers reveal a different silhouette and looks compared to what the Sonet and Seltos have, and akin to Kia’s flagship in India, the EV9. What is apparent is that unlike the Sonet which is positioned as a proper SUV with a butch stance, the Syros looks to add more value to the segment with a boxier, even MPV-ish approach, with flat panels, likely done to maximise space in the cabin. AUDI HAS launched the facelifted Q7 SUV, with prices starting at Rs 88.66 lakh (ex-showroom). While changes aren’t major compared to the older car, they will help this gen of the Q7 solider on for a few years before the new-gen makes its debut. The update includes a new grille, new OLED headlamps with custom lighting signatures, new bumpers and new alloy wheels. Customers can choose Cedar Brown of Saiga Beige for the cabin, but the layout is the same as before with a triple-display setup. The instrument and infotainment displays have been updated to accommodate new features such as the ADAS suite. BMW HAS launched the 2024 M2 coupe, which gains more power and more tech than before. While it still uses the same S58 3.0-litre straight-six turbo, which has been uprated to make 480bhp and 600Nm of torque, but still continues with the six-speed manual and 8-speed automatic gearbox options. BMW claims a 0.1s decrease in 0-100kmph time, with the automatic doing it in 4 seconds and the manual in 4.2 seconds. The M2 can now be had in new colours including yellow, red, blue and grey, which it also gets new 19-inch front and 20-inch rear staggered alloy wheels. BNCAP HAS awarded the Hyundai Tucson with a five star safety rating, for both adult and child protection ratings. This is the first car from Hyundai to be crash tested by BNCAP. The Tucson scored 30.84 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection, and 41 out of 49 points in child occupant protection. This rating is only applicable to the India-spec Tucson, as it has been facelifted internationally. The Tucson’s score of 30.84 in adult occupant protection is the third highest ever at BNCAP, behind the Tata Punch EV at 31.46 points and Mahindra Thar Roxx at 31.09 points.…

THE PRODUCTION version of the eVX concept, called e Vitara has made its global debut. This will be the brand’s first BEV for the global markets, and for India as well. The e Vitara uses the eAxle system which integrates the motor and inverter at each axle, which allows the car to use the AllGrip-e AWD system. This is based on a new platform called, Heartect-e, specifically developed for electric cars. The European-spec car is offered with a 49kWh and 61kWh, with the smaller of these getting only 2WD, and the larger battery pack offered with both 2WD and 4WD options. FOLLOWING ITS not so well recieved rebranding, Jaguar has revealed the Type 00 concept, that is set to become the first page of the British automaker’s new chapter as an EV-only brand. Based on exuberant modernism, the Type 00 will likely rival the Rolls Royce Spectre, but as far as visual appeal is concerned, Jaguar has developed something straight from the cyberpunk universe. It has a fastback silhouette, while the roofline extends all the way to the full-width taillamp. The interior is quite radical too, with floating displays, and the rear and side mirror feeds beamed through cameras for the driver. The production-spec car will make its debut in 2025, and is expected to offer a WLTP range over 770km.…

BMW MOTORRAD has updated the F 900 R roadster and the F 900 XR sports tourer. The 2025 editions of both bikes get revised ergonomics and upgraded suspension with lighter construction while the XR also gets improved aerodynamics. Both these motorcycles are powered by the same 895cc, parallel-twin motor that churns out 103bhp and 95Nm of torque, whilst being mated to a six-speed gearbox. Both motorcycles are three kg lighter and get adjustable USD front forks. In the case of the F 900 R, the footpegs have been moved further back, while the handlebar has moved slightly more forward.…

ROYAL ENFIELD has given the Scram 411 a thorough upgrade and now calls it the Scram 440. That’s down to the fact that this heavily updated motor from Royal Enfield comes with a bigger bore, which is larger by 2mm, giving it a larger capacity than the previous iteration. The 443cc, single-cylinder, air and oil-cooled motor now churns out 25.4bhp and 34Nm of torque, which is a minimal increase of 1.1bhp and 2Nm over the 411. The Scram 440 also features a six-speed gearbox, a main stand, an LED headlamp and switchable ABS. The Scram 440 will be launched in India next year.…

KTM HAS revealed the 2025 iteration of the 790 Adventure for global markets. The Austrian brand is said to have improved the suspension, updated the engine and reworked the overall body as well. The forks now come from its elder sibling 890 Adventure. It is powered by the same 799cc, parallel-twin motor which gets new throttle bodies along with knock sensors. OLA ELECTRIC MOBILITY’S onslaught of new products continues. The homegrown two-wheeler EV brand has launched four new models, a couple of which are aimed at last-mile mobility solution providers. There’s the Ola S1 Z, S1 Z+, Gig and Gig+, each of which is priced at Rs 59,999, Rs 64,999, Rs 39,999 and Rs 49,999 (all prices ex-showroom), respectively. The S1 Z and Z+ can be equipped with two 1.5kWh battery packs, just like the Gig+. However, these are swappable battery packs, which is a first for the brand. MAHINDRA HAS launched the first two of its Electric Origin SUVs for the Indian market, namely the BE 6 and the XEV 9e. The BE 6, is the first model in the BE electric-only subbrand, which will spawn other models in the coming years. Prices for the BE 6 start at Rs 18.60 lakh, while the XEV 9e starts at Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom), with prices for the entire model range to be revealed in January next year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. MERCEDES-BENZ INDIA has introduced the C63 S E Performance, which is priced at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom). This is the most powerful iteration of the C-Class, and for the first time gets a PHEV powertrain. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol from the C43 is as before, but makes more power and combined with the e-motor placed at the rear axle gives the car access to 670bhp. The torque meanwhile sits at a massive 1,020Nm. The C63 can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.4 seconds while the top-speed is rated at 280kmph, and as it gets Formula 1-derived tech, it also has an EV only range of 13km. BMW INDIA has launched the updated M340i, which is now priced at Rs 74.9 lakh (ex-showroom). It continues with the same 374bhp 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo, that also makes it the fastest Indian-built car, capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 4.4 seconds. The updated M340i also gets the new Widescreen Curved Display with a 14.9-inch infotainment and a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation. HONDA HAS launched the third-gen Amaze, with prices starting at Rs 8.00 lakh (ex-showroom). The sedan has been revamped with a new look, taking cues from the larger Elevate and City, and the Accord sold in international markets. TOM WALKINSHAW RACING, famously known as TWR, the racing team which participated in touring car racing and Formula 1, and had a long-standing relationship with Jaguar has revealed the Supercat. This is underpinned by the XJS, and it is pretty apparent with the design of the car, which also includes a lot of Jaguar’s racing DNA, from cars like the XJR-9, XJR-15 and the XJ220. The Supercat gets an in-house developed supercharged V12 that makes 660bhp and 730Nm of torque, with the power sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual in true racing fashion. The structure of the Supercat has been reinforced, with an integrated tubular steel frame, and carbonfibre body panels. These include the KTM 1390 Super Duke R, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, the KTM 890 Duke and the KTM 890 Adventure R. BRIXTON HAS launched four new motorcycles in the country along with the VLF Tennis 1500W electric scooter. These four new motorcycles include the Cromwell 1200 X, Cromwell 1200, Crossfire 500 X, and Crossfire 500 XC. BENGALURU-BASED startup River, that makes the off-beat Indie electric scooter, has given its sole product an update. River has also increased the price of the Indie, which now sits at Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom), and is dearer by Rs 18,000 compared to the previous model. There are two new colour options, white and grey, and River has given the Indie a new chain drive system, as well. There’s also a single-speed gearbox, along with a dedicated reverse gear switch. TVS MOTOR COMPANY has given the Apache RTR 160 4V an update. The refreshed model costs Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom) and includes a new colour scheme along with some new equipment. Mechanically though, the motorcycle remains the same as before. It is powered by the same 160cc, single-cylinder motor that makes 17.55bhp and 14.73Nm, whilst being mated to a five-speed gearbox. Just like before, it gets three ride modes and TVS SmartXonnect. The new colour options include Granite Grey, Matte Black, and Pearl White, which have more stylish graphics than the previous model. BMW’S SEVENTH-GEN M5, the first-ever to use a hybrid powertrain has arrived. The powerplant in question is BMW’s creme de la creme 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 strapped to an electric motor. The system output stands at a stagerring 727bhp and1,000Nm of torque. This power is sent to all the wheels via the xDrive AWD system, and helps the 2.5 tonne sedan (heaviest M5 ever), from nought to 100kmph in just 3.5 seconds. Top speed sits at 250kmph, which can be boosted to 305kmph with the M Driver’s Package. MAHINDRA HAS yet again earned accolades for safety, with the Thar Roxx, XUV 3XO and XUV400 scoring five stars each at Bharat NCAP tests. The Thar Roxx also becomes the highest scoring ICE car ever at BNCAP and the first ladder-on-frame car to score five stars, while all three cars successfully got five stars in both adult occupant protection and child occupant protection. The Roxx scored 31.09 points out of total 32 in adult occupant protection, and 45 out of 49 points in child occupant protection. MARUTI SUZUKI has launched the fourth-gen Dzire compact sedan, with prices starting at Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom). For the first time, the Dzire is now a standalone product, and differentiated compared to the Swift, both visually and in terms of features offered. The Dzire is 3,995mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,525mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm, which is the same as the older car but is taller by 10mm. It gets a flat bonnet, with new LED headlamps and DRLs with a blacked out look, which flank the bigger hexagonal grille. IN A bid to attract more customers, Citroen has launched the new Aircross Xplorer. This is essentially a cosmetic and feature update for the SUV, and is offered on the Plus and Max trims. Citroen offers a Standard Pack at Rs 24,000 and an Optional Pack at Rs 51,700 on the Xplorer. Standard Pack includes khaki inserts, decals on the rear doors, dashcam, ambient lighting and illuminated door sills. The Optional Pack adds rear entertainment screen for the left-rear passenger, making it a unique proposition in the midsize-SUV segment. Prices for the Aircross Xplorer range from Rs 10.23 lakh to Rs 15.06 lakh (ex-showroom).…

KIA HAS revealed the Tasman pickup truck that is offered in single cab and double cab guises, and gets three variants - Base, X-Line and X-Pro. Visually, the Tasman, has an obtuse design with most of the elements shaped by their utilitarian purpose. It gets ample cladding all over, adding to the utilitarian look of the car, and in the X-Pro trim, the Tasman also gets chunky off-road tyres. The truck gets AWD as standard for the X-Line and X-Pro, and an option for the base model. The X-Pro gets an Electronic Locking Differential at the rear and a low-speed off-road crawl mode. Kia has two powertrains on offer, a 2.5-litre petrol making 277bhp and a 2.2-litre diesel making 207bhp, with automatic and manual transmission options.…

TOYOTA HAS revealed the Land Cruiser ROX concept, that stands for “Recreation Open eXperience”. Based on the Land Cruiser 250, with heavy changes made to the bodywork. The top has a sliding roof, which opens up while the rear features an open load bed, like a pickup. The roof bars come with a custom triple-bar roof rack, and also features auxiliary lights. The suspension has been lifted by four-inches, while the track width has been increased by eight inches, adding to the stance are the 18-inch wheels with off-road tyres. The cabin is weatherproof, and made out of 3-D printed pieces. It uses the same 2.4-litre engine that makes 326bhp, and is paired to an 8-speed automatic and 4WD system.…

TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES has introduced an update for the Tiger Sport 660. The 2025 edition gets more features than before along with four new colour options, which include the ‘Roulette Green’ option, without much of a price increase. In terms of features, the refreshed Tiger Sport 660 now gets a bi-directional quick shifter and an additional ‘Sport’ riding mode. There’s also cruise control which is offered as standard. Triumph has also optimised the cornering ABS with six-axis IMU and traction control, which again is now standard. There’s also the addition of smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation. DUCATI HAS taken wraps off the latest version of the Streetfighter V4, which is available in two variants -Standard and S. The new Streetfighter is powered by the 1,103cc 90-degree V4 from the new Panigale V4 that puts out 214bhp, which is 6bhp more than the outgoing model. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox, which gets a bi-directional quick shifter. THE 2025 edition of the KTM 890 Adventure R has been revealed. Currently, this is only for international markets and features only cosmetic changes over the previous iteration. First and foremost, there has been a change in graphics and colours. The 2025 890 Adventure R now bears a resemblance to the KTM 450 Rally. There’s an eye-catching orange seat for the hardcore KTM fanboys out there. Furthermore, KTM has made the connectivity module standard with this latest version. This will allow riders to pair their smartphone to the five-inch TFT instrument console for turn-by-turn navigation, incoming calls and SMS alerts. YAMAHA HAS introduced the fourth-gen of the MT-07, with the Japanese brand making changes to the chassis, design and electronics.
