USING CBD oils and other marijuana products may affect how many prescription medications interact with the body, according to a startling study. Penn State University researchers listed 57 prescription drugs that may be influenced when combined with medical marijuana, CBD oil or recreational marijuana. Each drug on the list has a “narrow therapeutic index,” which means it’s usually prescribed in a very specific dose. Even minor changes in how the prescription drug operates could have a major effect on patients, researchers warn. The medications on the list range from heart drugs to antibiotics and anti-fungals. Many cannabinoid products, especially CBD oils, are unregulated and don’t have warnings on their labeling, the researchers say.
