nadia khan nadia khan@inl.co.za AN attempt by four men to have murder charges against them dropped failed earlier this week in the Durban High Court.
Anben “Fat Cat” Chinsamy, 48, of Ravenstone Place in Phoenix, his brother, Sugendran “Shoes”, 32, of Treehaven Place, and two police officers, Warrant Officer Theagasen Naidoo, 47, of Stoneham Drive and Constable Tristan Pillay, 33, of Eastbury, were arrested and charged with the murder of Seelan Pillay, 46.
Pillay, a father of three, was allegedly kidnapped, doused with petrol and set alight on May 10 in 2019. He sustained second and third-degree burns and succumbed to his injuries two days later in hospital.
According to the post-mortem results, Pillay’s cause of death was “burns over 80% of total body surface area with inhalation burns”.
