Conman sentenced to 35 years CHANELLE LUTCHMAN A CHATSWORTH man who defrauded seven people of R594 000 was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Sugan Naicker, 37, pleaded guilty in the Durban Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday to defrauding his victims. Naicker, who was arrested in Margate last April, has been wanted by police since 2016. Most of his victims, with whom he had close ties, lived in Chatsworth. Some had attended the same school, or lived on the same road. Naicker convinced them to invest with him, promising they would see high returns. He was given amounts ranging from R10 000 to R174 000.
