I’M 61 AND have been riding on the road since I was 17. I first drooled over the 916 at the NEC Show and in 1998 I managed to afford a third-hand 748 Biposto. Subsequently, I’ve had a 996 SPS, a 998R (which I still own), 749R, 999R, 1098S, 1098R (which I’ve kept), one of the early Panigales (which left me a bit cold) and a Panigale R, but I couldn’t connect with it. So, I chopped it in for a very tired 998S FE. It’s a 2004 model which cost me £6k with 30,000 miles on it.
