I’ve just attended the Pre-Fall 2016 collections, and it’s still fall 2015 as I write this. The clothes will be in stores in May, and I’m seeing fur coats. People love to say fashion is a crazy business, but it’s officially gone mad. The pace of collections is ridiculously accelerated, so much so that the obligation to produce has trumped instinct: Brands are forgetting what the customer wants to wear, and when. At Bazaar, as we go forward into the summer season, we will make every effort to showcase clothing that you can buy and wear immediately—not six months later, when those culottes you preordered don’t look so fresh anymore.
