Data from Cap HPI shows that heavy depreciation means buying a used electric vehicle is now often cheaper at the point of sale than the equivalent internal-combustion model. Cap HPI says that, after three years, the average EV is around 8.5 per cent cheaper than its petrol or diesel counterpart, rising to 14 per cent when it’s four years old. With EV technology developing at an accelerated pace, and consumer confidence in older models on the weaker side, the values of most cars typically halve over only two years, meaning there are plenty of bargains…

TIME has been called on Peugeot’s 508 Fastback and SW, which are both to be pulled from the UK market by the end of this year.
