In mid May this year, three developers claimed to have received emails from Valve, asking that they censor their games due to a violation of Steam’s guidelines on pornographic content, or face having them removed from the Steam platform. All of the games in question (namely, Mutiny!!, HuniePop and Tropical Liquor), while varying in genre, all share the same anime-style visuals, feature overtly sexual themes, nudity and suspiciously young-looking teenage girls. Naturally, fans of the games were dismayed and angered at this news, with some claiming that it has racist undertones, as all the developers were Japanese.
