A buoyant market
The floating guava market of Swarupkathi in southern Bangladesh continues to operate in the same way as it has for more than a century. Boats transport thousands of tonnes of guava each day, grown across 640 hectares of land. Farmers carry the fruit from orchards next to the river, and trading takes place on hundreds of boats.
