Liam Barnes, 36, from Stratford-upon-Avon, says, “My cousin Laura, an A&E nurse, was just 27 when she took her own life. She was like my sister and worked so hard, without complaint, despite the gruelling hours, but I often thought she looked tired.
“In 2016, she broke up with her boyfriend and it hit her hard. Instead of taking time off, she carried on working.
“On 4 August 2016, Laura took her own life. We were devastated. I’d kept in touch with her friends who were also nurses, and it was obvious there was no help out there for them, even though they were regularly exposed to stress and trauma as part of their everyday roles.
