TO CREATE THE RC 390 R, KTM started with a regular RC 390, then added some machined from billet aluminium yokes and separate clip-ons (stock tubes screw into the cast top yoke), fully adjustable WP forks and shock, a shorter inlet trumpet that comes good when the kit is applied, and adjustable levers. A standard ‘R’ costs £7699.
The £7642 kit goes further: an Akrapovic system, mapping to suit, HM quickshifter, race bodywork, big rads (the stock bike overheats on track), a race loom, dash, fairing bracket, STM slipper clutch, 415-pitch race chain and a selection of sprockets, spare wheels and numerous other refined/lighter/stronger components.
