THE SOHAM MURDERS A search was launched on 4 August 2002 after pals Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman (L-R above), both 10, went missing. After 12 days, school caretaker Ian Huntley, 28, was arrested. A search of Huntley’s home and workplace found charred pieces of the girls’ Man United football shirts. Huntley’s DNA was found on them. On 17 August, the bodies of both girls were found in a shallow ditch about 10 miles from their home in Soham, Cambridgeshire. Huntley was convicted of two counts of murder and given two life sentences, to serve a minimum of 40 years.
