Candace Griffin stands in her living room, thumbing through her vinyl collection. She flips past Beyoncé, Dave Matthews, and Fleetwood Mac on her way to Chaka Khan. Slipping the record from its sleeve, she says, “I like to go to a thrift store and pick up something I’ve never heard before but that looks like it would speak to me. I like the beauty of mixing old and new.”
