Electronica was revolutionary, design was minimal, the underground was still underground, and the new South Africa was no longer a toddler. In 1999, the Mandela presidency ended, and apart from a few issues, most of us were relatively optimistic. But as we edged towards the new millennium, the world got its first collective digital anxiety disorder: Y2K.
