Colorado resident Renée Brinkerhoff’s childhood wasn’t that of an average youngster. Her early years were divided between a small beach town in Southern California and Southeast Asia during the height of the Cold War. She and her family also called Hong Kong home during Mao’s Cultural Revolution, where they lived through the turmoil of the Red Guard riots.
