From 29 August to 1 September, around 1,500 teenagers took part in the 2024 School Games National Finals. Athletes from the UK competed to win a medal as individuals or as part of a team. The games, which usually take place every two years, were largely held at Loughborough University, England.
There were 11 sports in all, including athletics, cricket, cycling (track and road), hockey and netball. There were also para competitions in athletics and triathlon for athletes with a disability. Kishi Aremu won the girls’ 100 metres sprint race, and Ben Sykes took the boys’ title. Rafferty Mirfin was part of the winning boys’ 4 x 400 metres relay team and finished first in the boys’ 800 metres race. A team called England Orange won the girls’ 3x3 wheelchair…
