Between 20 and 23 June, the Royal Highland Show took place in Ingliston which is on the edge of Edinburgh, Scotland. Over the four days, 220,000 people went along to the event, which celebrates the best of Scottish food, farming and rural life.
The show’s main focus is its livestock (farm animals) competitions, with cows, goats and sheep among the animals on display. Competitors came from as far away as Australia and Argentina as judges cast careful eyes over the quality of the animals.
There were plenty of other interesting contests, too, including sheep-shearing (cutting of a sheep’s woollen fleece), a honey competition and a dairy competition with cheese and ice cream makers competing for prizes.
