Triumph's middleweight adventure range has always sold well, but its recent update split opinions. In 2020 the firm changed the firing order of their triple to a new 'T-plane', a move designed to give the bike a bit more spirit and also smoother torque characteristics. 'Character or value…' Moto Guzzi have turned a corner in recent years and the new V85 Strada is a charming and relaxed foil to the firm's more serious and modern-feeling bikes such as the V100 Mandello or Stelvio. Powered by an engine that is still very much a traditional Guzzi product (right down to its gearbox!) at heart, the V85 has enough old-school soul to please purists but, crucially, it has a tech level and degree of refinement that makes it a genuine alternative.
