ACCEPTABLE AGEING What we can all learn from J-LO turning 50 (5 Aug) was interesting. It’s true we should be pleased the showbiz industry is not writing off older women as it once did. But the women you discuss are all good-looking and have aged well, whether due to winning the genetic lottery and/or being loaded and pampered. And the fact they are still in the public eye doesn’t say anything about how accepting society is of older women. Sure you can be 50, 60 and not be discarded – so long as you look 20 years younger. CHOPOVA LOWENA IN 2005, I RECEIVED the highest compliment I could be given when someone mistook me for Sienna Miller (from the back, but I’ll take it). Beachy blonde hair aside, it wasn’t so much of a physical resemblance as a shared sartorial sensibility.
