SICK RAPIST In March 2000, Brian Holmes, 37, stalked and raped a frail 71-year-old in her South Tyneside home. Holmes tricked his way inside by asking to use the toilet. He stole a set of house keys, and crept back once his victim was preparing for bed. The petrified pensioner made a hysterical call to the emergency services before she was dragged into her bedroom and raped. At Newcastle Crown Court, Holmes – described as ‘an extreme danger to women’ – pleaded guilty to rape and indecent assault. He had four previous convictions for indecent assault.
