When Peter Hansen passed away in April, the past and present cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL was hit hard. The esteemed veteran actor hadn’t just played Scotty’s father, upright attorney Lee Baldwin, on the ABC soap ( and i t s spin-of f , POR T CHARLES) from 1965 to 2004, he hadn’t just bowled over fans with his sterling work and earned himself a 1979 Daytime Emmy, he’d also garnered the admiration of his colleagues. As GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Ava lay in the burn ward wanting to die, portrayer Maura West didn’t just have her hands tied behind her back. The powerhouse had most of her body and half of her face covered completely… and the Emmy winner still earned this week’s Gold Star, thanks to her painfully beautiful performance. Kicking Her When She’s Down When Ava regained consciousness and found brother Julian standing over her, she had only one eye and half a cheek visible, and a breathing tube down her throat.
