The Midlands Hindu Society has started a petition calling on the Msunduzi Municipality to restore crematorium services to the community. In a statement, the society said it was deeply disappointed with the lack of local cremation services. “This service was established by the Hindu community, for whom cremation is a significant part of their religious rites, and it was handed over to the municipality for the benefit of all the citizens without discrimination,” the statement said. Twenty-two days after he was reported missing, a Newlands East man’s partially-recognisable body was found by his family in the Phoenix Mortuary. Anamallay Rungasamy, 65, was allegedly killed in a hit-and-run on March 17, the same day he disappeared and his family reported him missing. VIDEO Assistant Referee (VAR) technology seems to have come to the fore again with many pub-goers calling for its shafting. But what these eager beavers don’t realise is the problems have nothing to do with the technology but with the actual application of it by officials, partially blinded by the solar eclipse over Mexico. A few weeks ago, an official was blinded by a comet as it flew over the Anfield in the closing minutes of the City-Liverpool clash. This seemed to have come in the way of the ref, as he missed Jeremy Doku’s obvious high foot into the chest of Alexis Mac Allister. THERE have been plenty of summer fish around with some edibles in the mix as well. The drags are making plenty of noise along the coast. The North Coast has seen the bulk of the inedible catches. The usual spots like Tugela and Mtunzini have been the places to go if you are looking for something to test your drag. Remember that these spots should be fished in a group as there have been incidents in the past. Bloody baits like mackerel and bonito have been the most successful.
