And having landed in Cape Town, South Africa, on 11 February this year, my partner Richard and I were heading off on a cruise holiday. But first we had a couple of days for a spot of sightseeing. Becoming a registered nurse in July 2018, Heather Pressdee displayed her dedication to helping others immediately. Working a variety of nursing jobs in Western Pennsylvania, Heather, 41, treated vulnerable patients like they were members of her family. Placed at five different care facilities between 2020 and 2023, Heather had 11 former nursing jobs before that, too. She often stayed longer than she needed to, tending to patients long after her shifts had finished. Sitting by their bedside, Heather was there for them as they took their last breath.
