Denis Lucchi’s childhood was set in the picturesque surrounds of Toscalano Maderno, with lush peaks to the north and glittering Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, to the south. The little town in the Brescian countryside of Lombardy is usually home to less than 10,000 residents, but the population would swell by the thousands during the summer.
