After spending two long years in prison, in January this year Ilya Averyanov was found not guilty on all counts. A free man again, Averyanov expressed his relief at the jury’s verdict – but also expressed his wishes to now help others who find themselves in a situation similar to his. Speaking to reporters, he told of his plans to engage in human-rights activities. Averyanov said that he wished to provide legal assistance to entrepreneurs under investigation, like he was. ‘I saw a lot of innocent people who need help,’ he said.
