Love them or hate them, the market for electric quadricycles is growing fast. In Europe, it has expanded twofold in three years, and that growth isn’t likely to tail off soon. New names and faces have made appearances, including the Citroën Ami, Fiat Topolino, Micro Microlino and various oddities from little-known start-ups.
Developed and built by the Renault Group’s nascent urban mobility brand, Mobilize, this latest runabout, the Duo, shares around 10% of its parts with the Renault Twizy of 2012, an EV that we loved for its endearing charm.
The Duo looks set to have the same effect by taking the Twizy’s fundamental principles and bringing them up to today’s standards, with big-car equipment levels, double the battery range, a design overhaul and, helpfully, doors with windows.
