STELLANTIS’ upmarket French brand, DS, has been trying to compete with German rivals since 2014, without making much of a dent. But now we have the DS No8, due to arrive in the middle of 2025 and conceived to woo buyers who would otherwise give their cash to the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes, or maybe even Tesla and Polestar.
The No8 is a mid-size coupé-SUV with an electric powertrain, and it shows DS separating itself from other Stellantis brands by doubling down on luxury, comfort and what it refers to as ‘serene’ qualities: practicality, fast charging, efficiency and long range.
There are three powertrain options. The base front-wheel-drive model gets a 74kWh battery, 227bhp and 345Nm of torque – enough for a 0-62mph time of 7.7 seconds.
