The e-tron Sportback is a coupé-SUV with a sporty new roofline, and it also introduces updated technology on board. As with the regular e-tron, the Sportback uses an electrified version of the VW Group’s MLB platform, rather than the MEB or PPE platforms that have been developed specifically for electric vehicles. Two versions of the Sportback have been confirmed, so the line-up matches that of the standard e-tron. Clearly when it comes to big, brash SUVs, there’s no replacement for displacement. However, with just as much luxury as the AMG G 63, plus more favourable running costs, the diesel G 350 d isn’t without merit. In fact, with a 500-mile range, it could be the G of choice for those who want a go-anywhere SUV that can do London to Edinburgh on a single tank. Latest Peugeot 2008 SUV names its price THE second-generation Peugeot 2008 (above) has been priced from £26,100 in the UK. That initial launch price gets you the combustion-powered version, while the all-electric model, the e-2008, will start from £32,000, including the Government’s plug-in car grant. Tightening efficiency legislation means it’s harder than ever for car makers to generate profit out of anything smaller than a supermini. And here is the first of the VW Group’s efforts to save the sector: the SEAT Mii electric. We’ve already had VW’s electric e-Up! in various iterations, but until now, SEAT and Skoda have only offered their versions – the Mii and Citigo – as petrol cars. SEAT recently wiped the normal Mii off its price list, though, so if you want a new one now, it’ll be electric. ALONG with the R8 supercar, the Audi S8 could be considered one of the German firm’s performance flagships. It has thrown every bit of technology it can think of at the A8, to ensure it’s an accomplished performance car as well as a luxurious limo. It’s difficult to know where to start when describing the S8, although the fitment of the brand’s 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine means its performance credentials are in no doubt. It’s much like the engine seen in the latest RS 7, and here it develops 563bhp and 800Nm of torque, transmitted to the road through Audi’s quattro four-wheel-drive system.
