Many of our readers have admitted they currently face hardships of all kinds. South Africa herself faces all kinds of trials and abuse. When the odds are stacked against us, keeping on with minimal fuss trumps all. Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius wrote, “To live a good life: we have the potential for it if we learn to be indifferent to what makes no difference.” Women, specifically, are challenged with various extended responsibilities such as being breadwinners, mothers, partners, spouses, employees, business owners and carers. But combine these responsibilities with daily ups and downs and suddenly responding indifferently and rationally to hardship isn’t always in our pandora’s box of tricks, as tactical and victorious as this is.
