I Grow Tired But I Dare Not Fall Asleep is the fifth album by twice-nominated Mercury Prize musician Obaro Ejimiwe, also known as Ghostpoet. Appropriate comparisons are to Massive Attack or Nick Cave; a Google search turns up descriptions of his music as “claustrophobic,” “dark,” “sombre,” and “dystopian.”
Well, yes, but Ghostpoet, and this album in particular, offers more than just that. Ejimiwe isn’t so easy to categorize. Listening to IGTBIDNFA conjures, in my mind, an image of walking through a rainy Paris backstreet, raincoat collar turned up, hands in pockets.
