Jocelyn Pook is a composer and performer who has taken scant notice of musical barriers in a career that, since studying viola at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, has included a spell with pop group The Communards, as well as opera, theatre, and film and TV scores, notably for Stanley Kubrick’s swansong Eyes Wide Shut. She has worked with some of the world’s leading directors, musicians, artists and arts institutions – including Martin Scorsese, the Royal Opera House, the BBC Proms, Andrew Motion, Peter Gabriel, Massive Attack, Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Laurie Anderson.
