Rick, I’m glad you asked. This is a hugely important question. As a rule of thumb, if you’re close enough to see the creature crossing your path, it’s close enough to trigger bad luck. Altering your course by, say, crossing the street is futile, even if you try to act all casual, like that was the way you meant to go all along.
Luck may be blind, but it isn’t stupid. Now, if the cat turns away, as if remembering something important at home, you’re good to go. A word of caution: Don’t think that a rabbit’s foot will ward of…
