My love of multi-sport training began on a whim. When I was 19 years old, a poster for the “Anyone Can Tryathlon” in Albany, New York, caught my eye and, three weeks later, I gave it a go.
That whim, that race, changed my life. I had recently become medically disqualified from the Army ROTC program that I had been accepted into as a freshman at St. Bonaventure University, and was feeling a void of belonging, athletic achievement, and adventure. I needed new ways to keep myself fit for a lifetime of health and well-being, and triathlon brought just that into my life.
