On September 17, the Fifty Fund rededicated 50031 Hood in its new InterCity livery, with HMS Hood Association.
Jonathan Dunster, director of the Severn Valley Railway and the Class 50 Alliance, started proceedings before handing over to Phillip Wilcocks, president of the HMS Hood Association. Wilcocks outlined the story of HMS Hood,which was sunk on May 24 1941 by the Bismarck,and remembered its 1,418 crew, of whom only three survived.
Also at Bridgnorth, the Fifty Fund was presented with the Admiral Holland sign showing a picture of HMS Hood (from the public House in Banbury), by HMS Hood Association.
The rededication takes place in the 100th year since HMS Hood’s keel was laid down,and in the 75th anniversary year of its sinking. STEVE WIDDOWSON.…
