Although West Coast hot rod style cruisers haven’t really caught on in the UK, (being a niche of an already very American niche), it’s well executed here and a worthwhile addition to the Scout family. Taller bars and a bigger front wheel conspire to create a bigger, roomier Scout without compromising comfort or handling. And while the performance of this supposed hot rod Scout hasn’t changed, it was no sluggard in the first place and it out-drags both the old, now defunct 66bhp Harley 1200 Iron and more than matches the surviving, 93bhp (but heavier and £4K more expensive) Low Rider S. In that context, as a genuine, US West Coast cruiser, it’s almost a no-brainer.
