PREHISTORIC NEWS Palaeontologists at the University of Alberta, Canada have revealed the largest and oldest known T. rex. The T. rex, nicknamed ‘Scotty’, lived in Saskatchewan, Canada, 66 million years ago. He is believed to have been between 30 and 40 years old when he died – a long time in T. rex years! Scotty’s bones were discovered in 1991, but it took over 25 years to remove the sandstone covering the skeleton, piece it all together and study it. LARGEST CHESS PIECE This king is 53 times larger than a standard Champion Staunton king chess piece, standing at 6.09m tall with a base of 2.79m in diameter. It is made of African Sapele mahogany, and was completed on April 6, 2018. The mega piece was crafted by members of the World Chess Hall of Fame in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA.
