The new era for Australian enduro racing has begun. Formerly known as the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC), the rebrand to the Australian Enduro Championship (AusEnduro) was announced by Motorcycling Australia (MA) last December as part of a revitalisation of the series for 2025, the first round of which was held at Kempsey in March. Along with a new name, AusEnduro introduces a focus on aligning the local point-scoring system with global enduro championships. To that end, an outright points table has been established, where riders from E1, E2 and E3 categories will all battle it out for the title of ‘Pro Enduro Champion’ at every round and across the 2025 championship. The 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) kicked off in Australia on 21-23 February. With two of last year’s championship top three now racing in other classes, it virtually guarantees we’ll see a new champion in 2025. A hint of who that champion might be was revealed at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The 24-rider grid for the WorldSSP season opener would have to contend with sweltering conditions on the second day and strong winds on the third, as well as flag-to-flag rules, with a mid-race tyre change mandated to combat potential tyre failure. Just days after winning their first AMA Supercross race in the USA, Triumph Motorcycles announced they’d be entering Australian motocross this year. A three-rider team will contest the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX) across MX1 and MX2 categories. Ahead of its local release, Honda Australia have revealed details and pricing for the 2025 CB1000 Hornet SP. The biggest and most powerful naked in Honda’s ‘Street’ lineup, the CB1000 Hornet SP combines a CBR1000RR-based engine with premium chassis components and a raft of rider-assistance technologies. At the heart of the MY25 CB1000 Hornet SP is a 1,000cc four-cylinder engine. Based on the inline four in the CBR1000RR Fireblade, this liquid-cooled, DOHC unit features 11.7:1 compression, PGM electronic fuel injection and ride-by-wire throttle. Maximum outputs of 115.6kW @11,000rpm and 107Nm @9,000rpm are marginally down on the peaks delivered by the Fireblade, which is offered here in CBR1000RR-R SP form.
