IN 2014, I MADE A PILGRIMAGE to London to study at the Handweavers Studio and Gallery with Ann Richards, one of my weaving idols. I shopped for yarn, not surprisingly, and admired the pieces on exhibit, particularly a silk scarf with ruffles by Sally Weatherill. I couldn’t figure out how she wove the ruffles, so after I got home, I started sampling to achieve something like it. About four years and five warps later, I settled on a design I liked, quite different from the Weatherill piece. I call it my Ruffles Scarf.
