The Census 2022 has revealed that there were at least over 18.5 million adults in the country who did not complete their secondary school education – or, simply put, they did not have a matric certificate – with black African and Coloured people being the most likely not to finish school in South Africa. WITH the aim of preserving the Xhosa tradition and also educating young men on manhood, the School of Initiation in Prieska has launched a crowd-funding initiative that aims to cover the costs of an initiation celebration for young men who are unable to do so from their own pockets.
