The City of Cape Town has confirmed it is investigating claims that one of its LEAP officers was involved in an accident which left a three-year-old boy dead in Elsies River. In a statement by People’s Movement for Change, it claims the child was run over by a City LEAP officer, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time. The officer is also accused of threatening a family member with a firearm, intensifying their trauma. In response to a query by the Cape Argus on whether the officer was being investigated and suspended, Law Enforcement spokesperson, Wayne Dyason said: “The City is investigating the incident. A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his 19-year-old mentally challenged daughter.
