MAHINDRA’S UPCOMING electric SUVs are on a triumphant start, with the Indian auto-maker receiving more than 30,000 bookings in one day. Totalling 30,179 bookings, the XEV 9e received 56 per cent of the orders, with the BE 6 accounting for the rest. According to Mahindra, the Pack Three (top-spec) has received the majority of the bookings for both models. The BE 6 comes with two powertrains - the lower with a 59kWh battery pack paired to a 231bhp e-motor while the higher spec gets a 79kWh pack with a 286bhp e-motor, both getting, 380Nm of torque. MERCEDES-BENZ INDIA is all set to introduce the ultra-exclusive Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series in India. The Maybach elements include a new chrome grille with illuminated slats. The the bonnet comes finished in Obsidian Black with Maybach logos in a pattern all around, while the bumper too comes with a black shade. TOYOTA HAS introduced the 2025 MY Land Cruiser 300, with the prices starting at Rs 2.31 crore (ex-showroom). Unlike earlier, the LC is now available in the regular ZX trim, as well as the new GR-S trim, that is off-road focused. The GR-S gets a powered tailgate, front and rear differential lock, and a limited slip differential at the rear. Tech also gets a boost with features such as crawl control, hill-start and descent assist, terrain modes, off-road monitoring system and an active traction control. AFTER 18 glorious years of production, the ‘Godzilla’ has been discontinued. Nissan has announced that its planned order book has been fulfilled, and will not accept any further orders for the iconic two-door sportscar. Launched in 2007, the R35 GT-R became an icon for its performance, track ability, and tune-friendliness, with some tuning the sportscar to even the 2,000bhp mark. The sixth generation of the GT-R called the R35, derived its power from the 3.8-litre, turbocharged V6 mill making 473bhp and 588Nm in the 2025 model and paired with a 6-speed dualclutch transmission and an ATTESA AWD system. HONDA AND NISSAN have confirmed that their merger talks have ended, which if successful would have created the world’s fourth largest automaker. Honda reportedly asked Nissan to become a subsidiary, rather than a joint holding company, which deviated from the initial plans, leading to the end of talks. While the merger talks have ended, both companies will continue to collaborate on electric vehicles and autonomous driving tech, along with Mitsubishi, which too was part of the discussion. VOLVO HAS revealed the EX30 Cross Country, based on the brand’s entry-level electric car. This marks the first time that an SUV, that too an EV has been given Volvo’s Cross Country title. It gets rugged looks, with blacked out exterior bits. It has a 19mm higher ground clearance, a roof rack and skid plates front and rear. The EX30 Cross Country also gets 18-inch alloys shod with 720mm AT rubber. Volvo offers a range of optional extras, such as larger wheels, mudflaps and a tent. ROLLS-ROYCE HAS revealed the Spectre Black Badge, adding more exclusivity and performance to the ultra-luxury electric. The Black Badge has access to 659bhp and 1,075Nm, which translates to a 0 to 100kmph sprint time of 4.1 seconds. It gets the same 102kWh battery, that gives it a claimed range of 530km on a single charge. Rolls-Royce has tweaked the chassis, steering and the roll stabilisation system to manage the boost in power while maintaining its characteristic ride quality. HERO MOTORCOP has moved its EV and Emerging Mobility Business Unit (EMBU) into a fully independent unit with the aim of leading the EV revolution and next-generation mobility under the mentorship of the executive chairman Pawan Munjal. The company says that as part of this shift, the product development teams across EMBU, Hero Tech Centre Germany (TCG) and Hero Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) will work together to ‘set new industry benchmarks’. DUCATI TOOK wraps off the XDiavel V4, revealing the cruisier version of the Diavel V4. On the mechanical front, the motorcycle is identical to the Diavel V4, sharing the 1,158cc V4 engine churning out 168bhp and 126Nm along with the aluminium monocoque frame, brakes and suspension. MRF IS now one of the official tyre suppliers to the British Rally Championship (BRC). TATA.EV HAS announced that the brand, in collaboration with multiple partners, is committing to expanding its EV charging network to 4 lakh touch points by 2027, doubling its current network. The brand launched its ‘Open Collaboration’ framework in 2023, partnering with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and now with ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’ it aims to expand its network in the next two years. In collaboration with key CPOs, Tata.ev is going to set up 30,000 new public charging ports. RENAULT INDIA has launched the 2025 MY update for the Kiger and Triber, adding some features to the package. Both the models have been updated with new standard tech such as all-four power windows and remote central locking. KIA HAS taken the wraps off the new EV4, which is available in hatchback and sedan bodystyles, marking a first for the Korean automaker’s electric model range. KIA HAS revealed the EV2 concept that previews the brand’s upcoming entry-level EV. Taking cues from other EV models, the EV2 has a dual-headlamp setup, with plastic cladding below on the bumper. Inside, the space is modular, and gets bench seating for the front passengers and a folding bench for the second row. RENAULT AND GEELY have announced that the two companies have reached an agreement to expand their strategic partnership. This includes mainly the production and sales of electric vehicles in Brazil. Geely will invest in Renault do Brasil, becoming a minority shareholder, allowing the Chinese giant to gain access to the company’s infrastructure in the South American nation. Throught this, Renault’s Ayrton Senna Complex in Sao Jose dos Pinhais will be used to produce new vehicles, for both Geely and Renault. THE IMPORT policy has been relaxed, giving enthusiasts and car collectors more leeway to expand their collection. Earlier, only cars made before 1950 were allowed to be imported, but now the policy encompasses cars built till 1975, adding 25 years to the limit. VOLVO HAS revealed the facelift for the XC60 SUV. This follows the XC90 aesthetic, with a new grille up front with diagonal slats and new air vents in the bumper. BMW HAS revealed the Vision Driving Experience concept that previews what the electric 3 Series and M3 will be based on. It uses a new ECU named Heart of Joy, that BMW claims in ten times faster than the systems in other BMWs. This car makes 18,000Nm while the regen braking takes away the need to use brakes for most driving scenarios. It also gets colour-shifting wheels, that change colour depending upon the driving action. AFTER CUSTOMER and dealer feedback, Audi has reversed its naming strategy, introduced in 2023, marking a clear differentiation between electric and combustion engined models. Confusion had been created amongst sellers and buyers alike, with regards to the naming system, that split the numbers between ICE and EVs, for example the A3, A5, A7 would be ICE and the A4, A6, A8 would be electric.
