HONDA HAS launched the City Apex Edition, that gets additional kit on top of the standard sedan. Customers can opt for the Apex Edition kit for an additional price of Rs 25,000, but is only offered with the mid-spec V and VX trims. This adds Apex Edition badges to the front fenders and the bootlid on the exterior. Inside, the upgrades include a leatherette dashboard, door pads and central console as well as new seat covers and cushions. A 7-colour ambient lighting system is also offered, which can also be opted for individually for Rs 7,500 on any of the trims of the sedan. JEEP HAS reintroduced the Meridian Limited (O) AT 4x4 variant, at a price of Rs 36.79 lakh (ex-showroom). This particular trim was taken off the roster, when the SUV was updated with more tech and features last year. This costs 1.7 lakh less than the Overland 4x4, and Rs 2.3 lakh more than the Limited (O) 4x2. This comes with 4x4 tech, terrain modes, hill-descent assist, except the Level 2 ADAS and leatherette upholstery, offered only on the Overland trim. It comes with the same 2.0-litre diesel making 170bhp and a 9-speed automatic transmission. LOTUS HAS launched the Emeya electric GT and the Emira sportscar, expanding its India lineup to three models including the Eletre SUV. The Emeya is a four-door grand tourer with a sleek design with distinct aero bits and automatic opening/closing doors. The Emeya R gets a dual-motor setup with 905bhp and 985Nm of torque, with 0-100kmph coming in 2.8 seconds, while the lower spec S and Standard get 600bhp on tap. A 102kWh battery pack is standard, which can be charged wth a 350kW DC charger in 18 minutes (10-80 per cent). NISSAN HAS commenced the exports of the Magnite LHD (Left Hand Drive) version from the Kamarajar Port, Ennore. The brand has exported the first batch of 2,900 units of the Magnite to the LATAM region. India is the only maker of the Magnite SUV, both RHD and LHD, hence the tagline, ‘One Car One World’. Nissan will be exporting over 10,000 units of the Magnite to markets in Middle East, North Africa, Asia Pacific, and LATAM. The Magnite is offered with a 1.0-litre NA petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, both available with manual and automatic transmission options.…

LEXUS HAS showcased a new LX based concept called the Surf. Unveiled at the World Surf League in Hawaii, this concept comes with all the necessities that a surfer might need. It gets a matte blue colour paired with a white roof, to blend in with the beach vibe and a custom external cage as well as an illuminated rear ladder. The LX Surf Concept also rides on custom 20-inch wheels shod with 33-inch off-road rubber. The boot has been transformed into a storage setup, with a sliding floor, storage drawers and a surfboard rack to store and organise their equipment. ASTON MARTIN has given the Vantage the Roadster treatment. Power comes from the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that makes 665bhp and 800Nm of torque, a substantial gain over the 512bhp that the older Vantage Roadster had. Owing to the roof mechanism, the Roadster weighs 60kg more than the Coupe, hence it is 0.1s slower in a charge to 100kmph, reaching it in 3.5 seconds. Top speed for both Coupe and Roadster remain the same at 325kmph. The aluminium chassis has been stiffened to improve the driving dynamics, while it maintains a 49:51 front to rear weight ratio (coupe has 50:50). TESLA HAS updated the Model Y for the 2025 model year, that brings a fresh look, and updates for the interiors. The car is 47mm longer than before, measuring 4,797mm in length. The design has been altered with the aesthetic taken from the Cybercab, with a new LED lighting strip and a boxier nose. The front camera gets heating and a fluid washer to ensure optimal operation in winters. The cabin is similar to the older car, but it gets new materials for the upholstery, while the front seats come with ventilation. THERE’S A new and improved version of the Honda Livo, which has received OBD2B-compliance. Honda has priced the 2025 Livo from Rs 83,080 (ex-showroom) to Rs 85,878 (ex-showroom), with two variants on sale, one with a drum and the other with a disc brake at the front. As mentioned earlier, the OBD2B-compliant 110cc, single-cylinder motor produces 8.7bhp of peak power and 9.3Nm of peak torque, which is identical to the previous version of this motorcycle. This engine comes mated to a four-speed gearbox, which has the same ratios as before as well. ELECTRIC TWO-WHEELER brand Ola has introduced a whole new range of Gen 3 scooters in the country. These include the S1 X, S1 X+, S1 Pro, and the top-of-the-line S1 Pro+, with prices ranging from Rs 79,999 (ex-showroom) to Rs 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The S1 Air has been discontinued, but the ‘Gen 2’ models of the S1 X and S1 Pro will continue to be on sale, albeit at a lower price tag. TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES has launched updated Speed Twin 1200 models in the country. This includes the standard and RS variants, priced at Rs 12.75 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Both bikes get the same powertrain, which is a 1,200cc, parallel-twin motor that churns out 105bhp and 112Nm. There’s a new cam, allowing for the bikes to rev at a higher 8,000rpm and altered exhaust note. Power is up by 5bhp as well. IN A bid to try and make charging infrastructure more accessible, Ultraviolette has launched a Type 2 charging component that should make it easier for two-wheelers. Essentially, the UVLYNC, as the company calls it, will allow an electric two-wheeler to charge at any electric AC car charging point. It has been priced at Rs 2,999 and is compatible with a charger of any make at all. It will be sold at Ultraviolette dealerships across the country and will be available online soon.…

The Guerrilla 450 continues to be my daily beater from Auto Today’s long-term fleet. Out of all the options available, I have to say I find myself biased towards the RE’s modern roadster. I have to be honest, though, when I first heard the name of the motorcycle, I assumed that it would be more of a scrambler, which I love, thanks to our road conditions. My personal favourite from Royal Enfield’s batch of motorcycles was the Scram 411. I found it to be perfect for my daily commute, especially given my height and build. FORD HAS announced that the brand will mark its return to the top-step of endurance racing, by competing in WEC and IMSA starting from the 2027 season. The American automaker won four consecutive titles at the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1966 to 1969, famed for its fight with Ferrari during those years, a battle immortalised in the Ford vs Ferrari motion picture. While Ford does race at WEC with the Mustang in the GT3 class which also finished on the podium at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, from 2027 it will take on the top LMDh class, which also has manufacturers such as Ferrari, Toyota, Porsche, BMW, Genesis, Alpine, and Cadillac. THE ELEVATE portfolio has been expanded with the new Black Edition and Signature Black Edition. Both of these are based on the ZX trim. Externally, the Elevate gets a Crystal Black Pearl colour, with silver grille and roof rails, while the Signature Black adds blacked out elements instead of the chrome, making it a full-black affair. The interiors feature an all-black affair, with black upholstery for the seats. The Signature Black Edition also gets a seven-colour ambient lighting package. AUDI INDIA has commenced pre-bookings for the RS Q8 Performance SUV. This top-spec variant of the RS Q8 has some serious pedigree, and is also the fastest production SUV to lap the Nurburgring. Customers can pay a booking amount of Rs 5 lakh to ensure their slots. The RS Q8 Performance uses the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, making 640bhp and 850Nm of torque, capable of launching the SUV from nought to hundred in 3.6 seconds and to a top speed of 305kmph. The power is sent to all the wheels via Audi’s Quattro AWD system, and a sport differential. MAHINDRA HAS continued on its journey of five star rating at Bharat NCAP with the BE 6 and XEV 9e achieving the latest feat. The Mahindra BE 6 has achieved 31.97 out of 32 points in the adult occupant protection category, while the XEV 9e scored 32 out of 32 points in the adult occupant protection, making these the two highest scores in BNCAP’s history. The report notes that the head, neck and chest protection for front occupants was good, but the driver’s knee protection was adequate. The BE 6 also scored 16 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. TATA MOTORS has updated the Tiago hatch for the 2025 model year with changes to the design and features. This brings about changes to the nose, including new LED headlamps and a new grille, as well as a new LED DRL and a shark fin antenna. Inside, the Tiago has been updated with a new 10.25-inch infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a new steering with the illuminated Tata logo. BMW HAS updated its flagship electric SUV, the iX for the 2025 model year with changes to the design, features and the powertrain. The iX now comes in three variants, 45, 60 and M70, replacing the older 40, 50 and M60 variants. The kidney grille now comes with a new design with horizontal diagonal lines, which also gets optional Iconic Glow feature while the front bumper has larger air dams and new air intakes. RENAULT IS aiming to hit the electric vehicle range record with the Filante Record 2025. This is a test bed to develop new age technologies for electric vehicles. The design has been developed in collaboration with Ligier, and it measures 5,190mm long. It gets low-drag alloys, shod with specially developed Michelin tyres. It gets a bespoke 87kWh battery from Ampere, Renault’s EV arm that has directly integrated cells, which weighs under 600kg. The Filante weighs 1,000kg, thanks to the use of 3D-printed aluminium alloys. The chassis is a composite made from aluminium, carbon and steel, while the drive-by-wire and steer-by-wire systems ensure minimal physical components.…

MERCEDES-BENZ has claimed the record for the most expensive Grand Prix race car ever, with the 1954 W196 R Stromlinienwagen fetching EUR 51 million, or about Rs 460 crore at an auction. The auction was held at Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, and was hosted by RM Sotheby’s. This is the second most expensive car auction ever, with the 1955 Mercedes 300 SLR Uhlenhaut sold for a staggering USD 142 million (Rs 1,250 crore). The racecar was driven by Sir Stirling Moss at the 1955 Italian Grand Prix, where he also recorded the fastest lap. It comes with a 2.5-litre straight-eight motor making 290bhp. YAMAHA HAS made a significant price cut for the R3 and MT-03, which were previously priced at Rs 4.65 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. Thanks to this latest development, the R3 is now available for a price of Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom), while the MT-03 now retails at Rs 3.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Both these slashes in prices feel significant, especially since the Aprilia RS 457 costs Rs 4.20 lakh (ex-showroom), which is the main rival to the R3. BMW MOTORRAD has introduced an updated line-up of the R18 models in international markets. This includes the Classic, Trans-continental, B and Roctane, all of which come with a new 18-inch rear wheel rather than the 16-inch unit. There’s a new wheel design with seven spokes, along with new front and rear mudguards. BMW has also added a new silencer with a circular cross-section and better padding for the single-piece seat, which is removable. ROYAL ENFIELD has launched a significantly updated version of the Scram 411. It is now called the Scram 440, and that’s because the brand has increased the bore size by 3mm, which has led to the capacity going up to 443cc. This tweaked engine now makes 1bhp and 2Nm more than the previous models, taking the total to 25.4bhp and 34Nm. There’s also a new six-speed gearbox and a 15-tooth sprocket. NUEGO, FROM GreenCell Mobility, has launched India’s first electric AC sleeper bus service. NueGo’s electric sleeper buses will operate on major routes across India including Delhi–Amritsar, Bangalore–Chennai, Hyderabad–Rajahmundry, Chennai-Madurai, Vijayawada – Vishakhapatnam, Bangalore - Madhurai. These sleeper buses are claimed to be the first to be certified/homologated in India with a 450kWh HV battery. Lately, I’ve been looking to find a replacement for my family’s Royal Enfield Meteor 350, and it hasn’t been as easy as one may imagine. My father has been riding it for almost two years and has liked it quite a lot, but I think it’s time for a change. Enter the Hero Mavrick 440, which I feel seems to fit the bill quite well. MARUTI SUZUKI has revealed more details about the e Vitara as the Indian automaker gears up to launch its first EV in the country. The e Vitara will be offered with ten exterior colour options, six monotone and four dual-tone shades. Features of the top-spec e Vitara include LED headlamps, 18-inch alloys and an active air flap on the exterior. FERRARI’S LATEST grand tourer, the 12Cilindri, pronounced Dodici Cilindri will be coming to India soon, and will carry a price tag of Rs 8.5 crore for the coupe and Rs 9.15 crore (ex-showroom) for the open-top Spider. Unlike other manufacturers, which have downsized or electrified their engines, Ferrari went ahead and developed an all new V12 motor devoid of any hybrid or electric assist, replacing the 812 Superfast. SKODA HAS announced pricing for the Kylaq subcompact SUV, as the brand had earlier only announced the starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kylaq is available in four trims – Classic, Signature, Signature+ and Prestige. The SUV is powered by the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, making 115bhp and 178Nm of torque, paired to a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic. MERCEDES-BENZ INDIA has launched the Maybach GLS 600 Night Series at Rs 3.71 crore (ex-showroom). This arrives as the top-spec trim in the Maybach GLS range, and only gets cosmetic changes compared to the standard Maybach SUV. The SUV gets a dual-tone paint with Mojave SIlver finish on the upper half and Onyx Black on the lower half. Most of the chrome has been replaced with black elements, including the front grille. AUDI HAS revealed the Q6 e-tron off-road concept, that previews an off-road version of the brand’s electric SUV. The concept car is based on the SQ6 Sportback e-tron, but gets a host of changes over the standard vehicle. It uses four portal axles developed in house which are integrated into the wheel hub assemblies at the front and rear. The total combined output, on the wheels totals 13,400Nm while the power sits at 516bhp. Each wheel has a gear set, controlling the power sent to the wheel. Audi claims that the car can climb up gradients of up 45 degrees, and reach a top speed of 175 kmph. The ride height has been increased by 160mm, while the track has been extended by 250mm. BYD HAS revealed the Atto 2 electric SUV, that sits below the Atto 3. This measures 4,310mm long, 1,830mm wide and 1,675mm tall, making it a smaller than the Hyundai Creta EV. the design is similar to the Atto 3, with a slim silhouette, and LED lighting all around. Inside, it gets a 15.6-inch display, along with a digital display, ambient lighting and ADAS tech. It comes with a 45.1kWh battery pack paired to a 176bhp motor mounted at the front, giving it a 312km claimed range. THE 911 CARRERA S has been upgraded to the 992.2-gen, and now gets visual treatment borrowed from the Turbo. Porsche claims that the new Carrera S has performance comparable to the last generation of the GTS. While it still uses the 3.0-litre flat-six turbo motor, power output has been increased to 480bhp, up from 450bhp, courtesy of new turbochargers and a new cooling system. This can dispatch a launch from 0 to 100kmph in 3.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 308kmph, while sending all the power to the rear wheels only. HONDA MOTORCYCLE and Scooter India has launched the updated Activa in India. It is available in three variants: Std, DLX, and H-Smart, and prices start at Rs 80,950 (ex-showroom). The Activa is still powered by the same 109.51cc single-cylinder engine that produces 7.88bhp and 9.05Nm and is mated to a CVT. However, like other Honda models, it is now OBD2B-compliant. In terms of design, the 2025 Activa remains identical to the previous model but there have been some new feature additions. It now has a 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, which is compatible with Honda RoadSync. AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE brand Harley-Davidson has revealed a more road-biased iteration of its adventure tourer, called the Pan America 1250 ST. This version of the Pan America is more focused towards providing a more rewarding touring experience and gets Michelin Scorcher Sports tyres, 17-inch wheels at each end, a bidirectional quickshifter and a lower seat height. That’s not all; it also comes with a lowered suspension, which has been reworked along with a lighter exhaust system. Harley has also removed the knuckle guards and reduced the size of the radiator shrouds to make for a sleeker look. It is powered by the same 1,250cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine, producing 150bhp and 127Nm. It is currently listed on the brand’s Indian website, but there are no prices out yet.…

AFTER IT was first showcased at the India Bike Week last year, KTM has revealed more details on the 390 Adventure and Adventure X. Both these models are based on an all-new platform, and there’s little to connect it to the previous versions of these motorcycles. They are powered by the same powertrain present on the 390 Duke, which is a 399cc, single-cylinder motor that produces 45bhp and 39Nm, whilst being mated to a six-speed gearbox. Both the Adventure and Adventure X share the same frame, subframe and design, but do have some differences. For example, the 2025 390 Adventure rides on 21/17-inch wheels, while the X rides on 19/17-inch wheels. It’s important to form a bond with any long-term vehicle that’s as signed to any one of us at Auto Today. But there’s a catch. It can be too tight a bond, and the reason for that is fairly obvious. THE INDIAN RACING FESTIVAL is in the planning phase of hosting a round of the racing championship in Goa. Primary approvals from local government bodies for a street circuit have been received. This will include a round of both the F4 Indian Championship and Indian Racing League. As of now, the league has the Madras International Circuit, Kari Motor Speed-way and the Chennai Street Circuit on its roster as of now.
