"All the Godello sold around the world has its origin in Valdeorras", and with this statement, Jorge L. Mazaira Pérez, technical director of the Valdeorras D.O. for the last 23 years, started the Godello tasting.
The small estates that make up the Valdeorras vineyards are perfectly integrated within the area’s Mediterranean type vegetation: pine trees, chestnut trees, heather, cherry and fig trees, accompanying the main aromatic herbs of dill, rosemary and mint, as well as the widespread “xesta” or broom (Cytisus scoparius), a lovely shrub whose flowers, along with the gorse flower, colour the Galician mountains yellow.
