ONE of five suspects arrested in connection with the kidnapping and killing of Chanlall Dwarika, a lecturer at the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT), Sandile Mkhize has been granted bail.
Dwarika, a 61-year-old electrical engineering lecturer, was kidnapped while conducting maintenance work at a property he rented in Sea Cow Lake on May 28.
He was seen on CCTV footage interacting with three men before being forced into the back of his Honda CRV.
After a six-day search, his body was discovered in a bush in Inanda on June 3.
Five suspects were arrested; Sihle Mkhize, 25, Siyabonga Maye, 35, Kwanele Makhaye, 29, Thobani Mhlongo, 23, and Sandile Mkhize, 43.
Sihle Mkhize, Maye, Makhaye and Mhlongo were charged with murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and kidnapping.
They abandoned their bail…
