This month I'm celebrating a big quilt finish. After a year of EPPing I've finally finished my Smitten quilt. It's a project that's kept me busy while camping in the rain, helped to while away many a bus journey, and even flew out to QuiltCon with me. I'm usually a quick-fix kinda gal and when it comes to sewing I like a design that'll come together over a couple of weekends, so this is a total triumph for me! I’D NEVER CONSIDERED USING FACING TO FINISH A QUILT BEFORE, BUT IT GIVES MORE OF A FEELING THAT THE QUILT IS A PIECE OF ART, LIKE A CANVAS WHERE THE PAINTING WRAPS AROUND THE FRAME At QuiltCon 2015 I noticed that several quilts were finished in a way I hadn’t seen or thought of before. The quilts were missing the typical border around the edges that a traditional quilt binding usually creates. Instead, the quilt top extended all the way to the edge, with the raw edges encased and the binding shown only on the back of the quilt.
