the quotes that inspire me

“I BECAME A GOOD RIDER BECAUSE I RODE EVERY DAY” My grandfather was a mountain man, stock man and racehorse breeder and trainer. When I was only young, I was sitting with him and he made this statement. As I sat there and soaked in the words, I thought to myself “If he can do that, then I can too” and I made it my business to ride every single day that I could from that day on. Needless to say this dedication to riding has never really left me. Back then I may not have ridden very well, but the more I rode, the better I became. Even now I take that attitude; every day I do not ride is an opportunity lost to work on my skills. “YOU ONLY GET OUT WHAT…

izabella dunne - part 1 ‘horses, hell & a lot of sass!’

‘Horses are in my blood.’ Sixteen year old Bella begins. ‘My grandfather was a horse trainer. My Mum, Pieta, grew up around horses. My love for the western world began in 2014, when Christine and Sarah Peters invited me to a Youth Camp through the Burpengary Western Performance Club, in Queensland. Bella got to ride various horses at the camp, her favourite being the AQHA mare, Rosies Trouble Pride. Receiving lots of encouragement from Lenore Webb, by the end of the camp, Bella was riding off the lead. ‘In January, 2015,’ says Bella. ‘Bonita Silver Lady came to live with us. Scooby taught me well, over the 4 years I leased her, her biggest lessons being to have patience, kind hands and how to stay on! We had some heart-stopping moments! I…

flashlight on paint horses

‘THEY FEATURE IN MANY DISCIPLINES.’ - Brooke Dalsanto of Yarra Valley, Vic. ‘When a good friend of mine recommended Woodstock Paint Horses to me,’ Brooke begins. ‘I decided to give them a call to make arrangements to head over to have a look at their horses. I’d been on the lookout for a sound, easygoing horse, with a lovely temperament. After just a couple of visits to the stud, I found myself excitedly taking home the beautiful, black Tobiano mare, Woodstock Smokin Goddess! Maggie, as I call her, had everything I wanted in a horse and her stunning colour and markings were an eye-catching bonus.’ Maggie is Brooke’s first Paint horse, as well as her first young horse. While she has not had much of a chance to show her horse as…
