My dad David was a keen mountaineer. As a kid, I’d never really climbed and my brother Steven, 47, and mum Dorothy, 69, weren’t keen.
But, once retired from his sales job in the 90s, Dad qualified as a climbing instructor, loved teaching.
Then, in 2014, Dad became seriously ill with cancer. I moved home to help Mum care for him and, sadly, in February 2015, dad passed away, age 75.
Grief-stricken, I shied away from the world. One day, a friend tried to coax me out to a craft lesson. It cost £50!
